DIA Accredited Designer membership is for designers who want to be recognised as experienced professionals, who want to raise their profile by using the ‘MDIA’ post nominal after their name, and who value the opportunity to be eligible to become an Accredited Designer TM. DIA Accredited Designer membership costs $625 per year + GST. Payment can be in a lump sum or monthly instalments.
DIA Accredited Designer membership is only available to qualified designers who, since graduation, have had at least five years of experience with a recognised design individual, firm or business. To be a DIA Accredited Designer member, you also need a qualification recognised by the Australian Federal Government’s Australian Qualification Framework. DIA Accredited Designer members need to hold either an Advanced Diploma or a Degree in design (that is, courses rated AQF 6 and 7). The only exception is for design disciplines where the highest undergraduate qualification is an AQF 5 Diploma. This typically applies to digital media, furniture design and interior decoration. If you hold a Certificate IV in design with an AQF 4 rating, you are eligible to be a DIA General member. In some circumstances, a portfolio of work will be accepted in lieu of formal qualifications after discussion with the DIA National Office.
