Can you briefly tell us the journey of Feather and Lawry? What makes you unique as a designer/business? How you have shown that a highly successful business can thrive outside of a state capital city.

Feather & Lawry began over 20 years ago when two friends, who had been working in large Brisbane architecture practices, saw a gap in the regional Queensland design market and decided to fill it with their flair and experience. Over this time, the business has grown from the original interior design service to include architectural and art consultancy. Our talented team have delivered numerous successful, award winning projects across Southern Queensland, Central Queensland, Northern NSW and even the Northern Territory.

Feather and Lawry has thrived in regional practice through a constant commitment to travel wherever the project may be located and make the unique connection between designer, site and client. This core philosophy drives us to always strive to deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients, who also love visiting our unique studio space which features a boutique art gallery. There is no better feeling than when someone falls in love with one of our artists paintings and we can put it in the pride of place within a space that we have designed!

What inspired you to join the Design Institute of Australia?

The Design Institute of Australia inspired me to join to be a part of something bigger than myself - to join a community of likeminded people pursuing our passion to make a difference to the built environment, the lives of our clients and our communities.  Looking forward to being able to share my experience and give back to the design profession.

Lastly a fun one, what is your favourite candy?!

Favourite Candy - oh I'm not a sweet tooth at all. With Dutch heritage I grew up on salted liquorice- well actually double salted! I don't indulge too much anymore but it still would be my favourite - thanks Dad!
