DIA joins forces with AIA, AILA and PIA to advance Brisbane 2032 legacy dialogue with Ministers and senior leaders
DIA is collaborating with the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA), Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA), and the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA). Together we represent more than 25,000 professional architects, landscape architects, planners and designers nationally.
We are partnering to develop an advocacy platform which leverages the power of design and planning as instrumental forces, unlocking vast community and city-wide benefits associated with the monumental investments allocated towards the 2032 Brisbane Games.
This joint advocacy piece is aptly named Green Pathways, Gold Places.
The 4 Institutes commenced engagement with government leaders on this initiative. We convened roundtable discussions with key stakeholders, including state and local government officials.
This included meetings with both the Deputy Premier, Dr Steven Miles MP and Transport Minister, Mark Bailey MP (pictured above).
Feedback on this advocacy work was overwhelmingly positive from all we met with, with a commitment from leaders to work with our Institutes.
The Green Pathways, Gold Places advocacy piece will represent our collective commitment to leveraging design and planning as catalysts for a sustainable and vibrant legacy arising from the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Next steps
Feedback from these meetings will continue to inform our joint advocacy piece, with more leader roundtables being scheduled for early 2024. The advocacy document will be officially launched in early to mid 2024 with our combined memberships.
