DIA CEO Jo-Ann Kellock recognised at Australian Interior Design Awards
DIA CEO Jo-Ann Kellock was recognised at the recent Australian Interior Design Awards for her advocacy work. DIA President Elect, Ryan Russel and NSW Branch Chair, Sara-Jane Pyke, presented the inaugural DIA Award for Design Advocacy.
Ryan remarked that advocacy work is something that largely goes unnoticed by many but is something that needs to be celebrated. The DIA Board determined to recognise an individual who has advanced a design discipline in an exemplary manner via their advocacy, education, promotion, leadership and impact.
Jo-Ann was awarded for her incredible leadership and impact on the interior design sector. Interior design faces a number of challenges especially within the proposed changes to the legislative frameworks currently being discussed at a state and national level.
Jo has gone above and beyond in her role as CEO of the DIA, providing exemplary leadership, strategic advice and lobbying to get interior designers recognised for their skills at a government level. Jo’s work, especially over the last two years, has effectively resulted in interior designers getting a seat around the table. Interior designers can now actively provide professional advice via the DIA to the government. This means that as an industry we now have a say in our future and are fundamentally recognised for our diverse skills in the building and construction sector.
