Arent&Pyke’s new book on their meaningful spaces lifts our spirits

Featuring stylish and contemporary photography, Interiors Beyond the Primary Palette, published by Thames & Hudson, illustrates Arent&Pyke's deep understanding of the psychology of space and how a well-designed home can enrich your life.

According to Arent&Pyke, "From the bedroom to the bathroom, the kitchen to the laundry, each room of the home should make you feel."

Since its founding in 2007, Arent&Pyke have formed an interior portfolio concentrated on the human element behind design. The studio describe their projects in each chapter through emotional connections and touchstones, highlighting their relentless design processes. The concepts of joy, colour, character, spirit and alchemy have been used to bring this book to life and detail the designers and their ethos.

Founders Juliette Arent and Sarah-Jane Pyke, combine decades of design expertise with a shared dedication to creating comfortable and sophisticated interiors with a unique focus on the decorative arts. Delighted to share their philosophy, approach and their designs, they comment:

“Fifteen years ago, when we formed Arent&Pyke, no one was really talking about how design made you feel. The focus was on aesthetics, and the debates were around trends—old school versus new school, minimalist versus decorative—yet there didn’t seem to be enough interest in how a design could impact your life. Or how a house could be lovingly crafted for the unique lifestyle of a family.

“Now more than ever, that seems essential. Since we started our business, we have witnessed a shift in values to a more inward-looking focus that is literally closer to home—to our local community, our friends and family.”
