Why We Draw: DIA Online

Why do we draw? Does how we draw change the outcome of a design? And what impact does drawing have on our design expectations?

Join the Design Institute of Australia ONLINE in association with Perth Design Week for a conversation about how it is we do what we do. With new technologies available to us as designers, what design process is right for our project? Is there something about the hand brain connection that's fundamental to design and is AI blurring the divide? How is design thinking impacted by how we represent our ideas?

This event will be delivered in two parts:

  • A presentation delivered by Csilla Csabai of Woods Bagot on why we draw - a fascinating iteration of a presentation delivered by Csilla to MOME Budapest, Hungary in May 2023

  • A moderated panel discussion interrogating the ideas raised throughout Csilla's presentation. Panellists include:

  • Tristan Morgan, computational design and automation leader @ Aurecon

  • Craig Forman, Associate Director @ Cameron Chisholm Nicol

  • Kim Thornton-Smith, Partner @ designPAPER

DIA members and students: $15 + BF + GST
Non-members: $30 + BF + GST

As part of the DIA’s Accredited Designer program, we offer Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through our learning resources. CPD is most effective if undertaken continuously to ensure a currency of skills and knowledge. Attendance at this event is worth 2CPD points
