Green Pathways Gold Places: Design Meets Government

Thank you to the over 100 planners, architects, landscape architects, designers and friends who attended the cocktail launch event of our Green Pathways, Gold Places advocacy.

In the lead-up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games, a landmark partnership has been forged among some of Australia’s leading design and planning bodies. Together, the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA), the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA), the Design Institute of Australia (DIA), and the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) are advocating for cohesive and integrated urban development. These organizations are pushing for joined-up thinking across all levels of government and the establishment of a single integrated design and development excellence delivery mechanism, designed to support the full lifecycle of the Olympic Games and extend into future urban development.

This collaboration emphasizes the need for a coordinated approach that spans various disciplines and governmental layers, ensuring that the Olympic infrastructure not only serves its immediate purpose but also contributes to long-term city planning goals.

Additionally, the partnership recently celebrated the successful launch of the "Green Pathways, Gold Places" initiative. This event, held on Tuesday night (30th April), highlighted innovative design and planning strategies that could set a new standard for sustainable and aesthetic urban development, aimed at making the most of the Olympic opportunity to transform Brisbane's landscape for generations to come.
