Can you share a defining moment that guided you toward Feng Shui and what continues to motivate your passion in this field.

The turning point in my life came during a meeting with a psychic who told me that my corporate career as an accountant was over and that I should pursue interior design, followed by Feng Shui. I loved the idea!

I discovered a passion for decorating and design while renovating my first home and gained formal qualifications in the field. However, as soon as I opened the Feng Shui texts, I was captivated and knew that I’d found my calling. My mission became to help people create abundance in all areas of their lives by maximising the energy in their living and workspaces.

Over 16 years later, I continue to practice Feng Shui in a design-inspired way with functionality and aesthetics in mind.

How do you approach educating and communicating with clients or the wider public who may be new to Feng Shui principles, and have you noticed any shifts in the design community’s perception of Feng Shui over the years?

There's a lot of misinformation and confusion about Feng Shui, with some seeing it as a superstitious or 'woo-woo' practice. I'm passionate about teaching people that true Feng Shui isn't about superstition or religion; it's about understanding the flow of energy in our surroundings and how it affects us mentally, physically, and spiritually. This is why I wrote my book 'Feng Shui, A Homeowner’s Guide to Abundance' – to de-mystify Feng Shui and offer practical advice.

As the wellness industry has boomed, so has awareness and understanding of Feng Shui, especially in its role in creating homes that have it all – sustainability, luxury features, and everything a discerning homeowner wants. Feng Shui is important to many people in the community, and it can have a tangible impact on the value of property.

I've seen a shift from when Feng Shui was more of an afterthought – where people would call me in to fix problems – to now, where architects and designers are more open to integrating Feng Shui advice right from the start of a project. It's great to see more professionals recognising the value of consulting with a reputable Feng Shui master early in the design process.

In a sentence or quote, how would you describe the connection between the energy of a space and personal well-being through Feng Shui?

In Feng Shui, the energy flow in your environment influences your mood, mindset, and motivation, acting as a catalyst for attracting greater abundance and well-being into your life.

What inspired your decision to join and continue to be involved with the Design Institute of Australia?

I joined the DIA fresh from design school in 2007, recognising the importance of being part of a professional organisation for both continuing education and networking opportunities.

Although my focus has since shifted to my specialty of Feng Shui, my connection to the DIA remains strong due to my passion for collaborating with fellow designers and architects. I was honoured to have one of my recent projects shortlisted in the Designers Australia awards program and would love to contribute to more award-winning projects with the DIA in the future.

What is your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?

I’m a mad netballer and find playing the sport to be a meditative practice. To unwind after a busy day, I’ll practice shooting with one of my daughters while listening to uplifting music or an inspirational podcast.
