Win $10K and an airfare to the UK to boost your career.
Although Australia is still nominally a remnant of the British Empire, the warmth of the welcome for visiting Australian passport holders arriving at Heathrow is only a glimmer of what it once was, and can even be downright surly.
Nevertheless, the Immigration officers at Heathrow thankfully don’t run the British Council, which is a British NGO that has the goal of building educational opportunities and cultural relations in the UK through the exchange of knowledge and ideas between people all over the world.
For the past nine years, the British Council in Australia has been sponsoring a wonderful programme called ‘Realise Your Dream’, which gives young Australians at the start of their creative careers a return airfare to the UK (yes, those lovely immigration officers have the final say) plus a few thousand dollars spending money.
This year’s programme, the tenth anniversary, offers $10,000 AUD and an airfare, and is now open for entries until the 3rd of June.
The range of acceptable creative pursuits is very wide, and designers are definitely in with a chance.
There’s nowhere like London for the breadth and diversity of creative talent, let alone the scenery and history, so if you’d like to hobnob with your creative idols and learn from them in ‘The world’s most fascinating city’, the British Council’s Realise your Dream programme is the perfect opportunity.
