The DIA welcomes membership from design practices and design departments as well as individuals and organisations who have an interest in or wish to associate with the design professions.
Affiliate membership is ideal for those who have an interest in design and the design sector and would like to maintain a close association with the DIA and professional designers but are not designers. Affiliate members often play active roles in their State Branch and benefit from the personal network that results. They do not have a voting right at official DIA meetings and are unable to be official members of State or National Council.

Design Practice membership is ideal for design consultancies and design departments. It aligns your business with the professional standards and aims of the professional body and provides access to the DIA professional network for your staff. Practice membership is applicable to any business size from sole practitioner upward. Design Practice membership includes one personal membership (up to MDIA level depending on eligibility). In general this membership is taken up by a principal of the practice or design department. Design Practice membership provides discounted rates for memberships bought on behalf of staff.
Design Practice membership is available to design consultancies and design departments where the principal activity of the business or department is the provision of professional design services. Additional personal memberships bought for staff must still meet all eligibility requirements. Personal memberships paid for by the practice remain the property of the practice to be assigned to staff at their discretion.
The personal memberships purchased include all relevant benefits. The Referral Service benefit follows MDIA membership. Practices may stipulate to staff that any referrals are directed to their business.
State Corporate membership is the choice for businesses that identify with the design professions and the DIA, and can benefit from access to the DIA's national network of design professionals. State Corporate membership includes two Affiliate memberships for staff members. These representatives receive all relevant benefits and can play active roles at their State branch level.
State Corporate and National Corporate memberships provide discounted rates for memberships bought on behalf of staff.
National Corporate membership is ideal for companies that operate in more than one state. National Corporate membership includes five Affiliate memberships for staff members. This enables your staff to maintain close ties with their local state network and have access to the DIA's information stream.
Corporate membership is available to businesses that are suppliers to designers or suppliers of goods and services specified by designers. Additional personal memberships bought for staff must still meet all eligibility requirements. Personal memberships paid for by the company remain the property of the company to be assigned to staff at their discretion. The personal memberships purchased include all relevant benefits. Both the company and the individual staff will receive communications and information.
Educational membership links tertiary education to the professional community. It aligns design faculties with the professional standards and aims of the professional body and provides access to the DIA professional network for teaching staff. Educational membership includes three personal memberships at up to Associate level (depending on staff eligibility). These may be upgraded. Both the faculty and the individuals will receive communications and eligible membership benefits according to membership category. Educational membership includes discounted rates for additional memberships bought on behalf of staff.
Educational membership is available to Universities, TAFE and private training providers with government accreditation that provide tertiary design education. The faculty may upgrade the level of each of the three memberships by paying the difference in each case.
Additional personal memberships bought for staff must still meet all eligibility requirements. Personal memberships paid for by the faculty remain the property of the faculty to be assigned to staff at their discretion. The personal memberships purchased include all relevant benefits.
