DIA WA 2013 Forum

26 May 2013

Important Dates:
Tickets purchased by Tuesday April 30 go in the draw for the Early Bird Prize of a $250 restaurant voucher

In its 21st year, the DIA WA Chapter has continued to provide a Design Forum for the Western Australian design community as well as for the general public to experience thought provoking dialogue and inspirational presentations from invited local, national and international practitioners and educators.

The focus of the 2013 DIA WA Design Forum is on the significant influence different design disciplines have on how a city’s social and community representation and sense of self is experienced by those who inhabit it, and also, how a city’s design affects how it appears to others who are looking in from outside. From the big idea of the planned city skyline to those tiny, fleeting, intimate yet unforgettable moments, design affects every encounter.

The Design Forum invites reflection on the design of Perth, a work in progress, as seen in the broader, global context. Constructed as the capital city of the resource rich mining state of WA, Perth is beginning to re-assert itself through brilliant chefs, intimate bars, live music, inspirational youth culture and as always the spectacular setting alongside the river and the natural light.
