To gain accreditation at the commencement of the program in January 2004 a Member must document a minimum of 40 points for the period 1 January 2003 to 31 December 2003 and sign and return the declaration provided. In 2003 it is necessary to earn a minimum total of 20 points from activity categories A and B.
For the 2004 cycle CPD points will increase to 50 points subject to any review of the points system prior to that date. In 2004 it is necessary to earn a minimum total of 25 points from activity categories A and B.
One learning hour of CPD activity is equivalent to one CPD point.
For DIA sponsored CPD activities one learning hour or part thereof earns two CPD points. DIA sponsored activities are credited with double points in order to promote the activities of the Institute and to acknowledge the commitment and work of the many members who contribute so significantly to the profession through the DIA.
Networking, social and administrative activities do not accrue CPD points.
There is no maximum number of points and members are encouraged to record more than the minimum number of points. Points in excess of those required in any given year do not carry over to the next reporting cycle.
Where there is question as to whether a CPD activity is relevant to design and thus qualifies for CPD points or there is a question as to how many points are accrued for a given activity the member should contact the National Office.
